WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS A FEVER

Fever is described as a temperature over 37C, as a mother, once my child feels warmer than usual I use the thermometer to get the actual temperature.

Often fever starts late in the night and sometimes getting to the hospital immediately may be difficult. In such cases I usually carry out the following before arriving at the hospital

I. Take the child’s  temperature

2. Give 5 ml of Pediatric Panadol Suspension (or age appropriate quantity-check leaflet)

3.run a cool bath for the child

4.continue to tepid sponge

5.Continuously monitor and chart the temperature

6.Get to the nearest hospital.

Please note that this is from my experience as a mother, you may need to speak to your Doctor on how best to handle sudden fever in young children.
